Presenter: Daniel Long II, PhD, BCN
Associate Professor of Neurology
Staff Psychologist, Director of MindFit and Assessment Services
Carruth Center for Psychological and Psychiatric Services
West Virginia University
This presentation will provide a broad overview of two cognitive enhancement interventions – cognitive training and neurofeedback – often employed to help those with attention and cognitive issues. The presentation will begin with an introduction to the WVU MindFit Clinic, followed by a review of the components and supporting literature for these cognitive interventions, and finally, these interventions will be illustrated by case example.
As a result of listening to this presentation, you will be able to (1) broadly recognize the goals of cognitive enhancement interventions, (2) identify the components of cognitive training and neurofeedback, and (3) discern the empirical evidence for these interventions in the treatment of attention and cognitive concerns.
