Parent Network Specialists are themselves parents of children with special health care needs and have had to navigate the medical and educational systems. The West Virginia Advisory Council for the Education of Exceptional Children (WVACEEC) is a state advisory panel that advises decision-makers on the needs of students with disabilities and gifted students. The WVACEEC's mission is to improve educational outcomes for children with exceptionalities by influencing the State Board of Education, public policymakers, and West Virginia citizens.
