Crisis Services of Positive Behavior Support Project
The Crisis Services Project has these goals for people who are in crisis:
- Avoiding significant personal and interpersonal conflict
- Having a satisfactory lifestyle
- Performing at full potential
The priority is to change the environment (not the person in crisis) so that effective personal and social behaviors are supported. The Crisis Services Project embraces the values and methodologies inherent in the positive behavior support approach.
The Crisis Services Project works with an interdisciplinary team approach to finding solutions to problem behaviors. The focus person is encouraged to be involved in problem solving and decision making. Consultations are conducted with the interdisciplinary team. The goal is to help the team find solutions to the crisis.
Involvement with the Crisis Services Project requires the commitment of the referring agency. The agency must be willing to commit time, personnel, funds and other resources needed to develop a supportive environment for the person at risk of crisis.
Crisis Services are time-limited consultations designed to assist interdisciplinary teams in stabilizing the behavior of individuals who are in crisis. After stabilization, Positive Behavior Support services and trainings are available to assist the team in supporting the individual.
