West Virginia University (WVU) Center for Excellence in Disabilities (CED) Services to Affiliates
Additional examples of services the WVU CED may provide to affiliates:
Mentoring/Brainstorming/Planning
- Research project conceptual development
- Partnership development and networking
- Select writing development
- Document review
- Identifying potential co-collaborators
Community Engagement
- Facilitate engagement with the WVU CED Center Advisory Committee, state, and national partners
- Identify potential community-based research partners
- Establish opportunities to network with individuals who are engaging in research and/or community activities designed to contribute to the independence and equity of individuals with disabilities and their families
Program Evaluation
- Assist in, or facilitate, the development of evaluation plans
- Creation and implementation of monitoring tools
- Assessment of outcomes
- Infographic creation and other stakeholder reports
The following services are available in instances when WVU CED is a grant partner or has a role in some way on the grant.
Pre-Award Processing
- Review RFA
- Creating RFA guidance checklist • Confirm salary information for all potential personnel on budget
- Draft grant-specific budget
- Confirm salary information for all potential personnel on budget
- Complete grant-specific forms
- Complete subcontract budget documentation
- Maintaining fixed documents (bio sketches, CVs, resource page)
- Collect letters of support
- Review final documents
- Submit to Office of Research & Graduate Education (Lemasters/OSP) for review and revise as necessary
Post-Award Processing
- Ensure financial account is established (including when funding has not arrived)
- Negotiate FTEs for shared employees (grants that use WVU CED staff)
- Facilitate and assist with necessary communication: funding agency, partners, co-investigator departments, OSP, Finance, etc.
- Ensure related subcontracts are established and monitored.
- Complete carry-over requests as appropriate
Award Implementation
- Process changes and maintain tracking record of all changes
- Assist in coordinating travel and special events
- Schedule meetings
- Process travel reimbursements
- Purchase grant supplies and materials
- Maintain calendar with key grant related deadlines (quarterly/annual and other required reports, financial reports) with input from PI
- Process cost transfers
- Implement service agreements
- Create requisitions and purchase orders
Grants Monitoring
- Maintain research compliance documentation (CITI, HIPAA)
- Maintain a point of contact list for all funded projects
- Prepare and distribute monthly financial reports
- Prepare monthly budget summary spreadsheets
- Review project budgets with PIs, Directors, others as appropriate
