Parent to Parent of West Virginia
Parent to Parent (P2P) of West Virginia is a volunteer matching program for parents and caregivers of children with disabilities or special healthcare needs.
Often parents and caregivers of children with disabilities or special healthcare needs face unique challenges not commonly shared by all parents. P2P of West Virginia connects families of children with special healthcare needs to a trained, volunteer support parent who has been on a similar journey.
Matches are based on diagnoses or specific topics related to a disability, transition or other life experience.
What can I expect?
A few phone calls connecting with another parent or caregiver can help with:
- Emotional support
- Parenting information
- Problem solving
- Community resources
- School transitions
- Challenges, barriers and more
Some matches are short-term – others can become lasting friendships.
