New graduate of the WVU neurosurgery residency program, Dr. Jesse Lawrence, was recently profiled for the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Dr. Lawrence shares his story of being paralyzed at a young age and how he made his way through medical school to pursue becoming a neurosurgeon. His father used carpentry skills to make modifications to his wheelchair which allow Dr. Lawrence to be in a better position above the operating table.

During his time in the WVU neurosurgery residency program, Dr. Lawrence was also the catalyst for some accessibility changes to both facilities and equipment. These changes benefit everyone and will remain in place, even after his graduation.
